EDITABLE DRAFTBest with an isolated instrument or voice. Full mixes need cleanup in your DAW.

Conversion settings Optional

Settings apply to the next conversion. Tempo sets the MIDI grid; it is not an estimate of the song’s BPM. Notes retain their timing. A full mix is not separated into instruments.

What this tool does

This MP3 to MIDI converter estimates pitched notes from a recording. It creates an editable MIDI draft with note pitch, timing and estimated velocity. Listen to the piano preview, download the .mid file, then check and correct it in your DAW.

Supported audio & limits

Choose one MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG or M4A file, up to 30 MB and 10 minutes. Decoding depends on the codec inside the file and your browser. An unsupported or damaged file displays an error.

Where it needs your judgment

Use an isolated pitched instrument or voice. Dense chords, multiple instruments, distortion, long reverb and noise can cause missing or extra notes. Drum-only recordings are not a supported transcription target. This is not source separation or an exact score.

How conversion works

The browser decodes and mixes the audio to mono, then resamples it for Spotify’s Basic Pitch model. Note detection runs in a background worker on this device. The first conversion downloads the model; browser storage caches those assets when available. The recording and its filename are not uploaded.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Before you press play.

How is MP3 different from MIDI?

MP3 stores recorded sound. MIDI stores performance instructions such as notes, timing and velocity. Audio to MIDI is automatic transcription, so the result needs human review.

Is this also a WAV to MIDI converter?

Yes. This MIDI converter uses the same workflow for WAV, MP3, FLAC, OGG and M4A files when the browser can decode them. No separate page or account is needed.

Will the MIDI sound like the recording?

No. MIDI does not preserve the original instrument samples, voice, lyrics, effects, reverb or mastering. This page previews the exported MIDI notes with local acoustic-piano samples. Other MIDI players may use a different piano sound.

Why does a complete song produce extra notes?

Instruments overlap in time and frequency. For a full mix, separate the instrument you need before transcription. Review the resulting draft rather than treating it as a finished arrangement.

Does my audio leave this device?

No. Audio decoding, note detection, piano playback and MIDI export happen in this browser. Only static model assets are downloaded. No analytics, ads, login, conversion history or audio-upload endpoint is included.
